Rona Edwards and Monika Skerbelis will write a monthly column offering an insider's view to what goes on behind studio, network and production doors in Hollywood while also presenting their take on the movie industry then ...and now.
MONIKA SKERBELIS
Monika Skerbelis is the co-author (with Rona Edwards) of the book, "I Liked It, Didn't Love It" (Screenplay Development From The Inside Out!). A former Vice President of Creative and Executive Story Editor for Universal Pictures' story department, she spent ten years overseeing the story department, developing a number of screenplays including Black Dog starring Patrick Swayze. Prior to that, Ms. Skerbelis was Story Editor for 20th Century Fox. She began her career as an assistant in the Story Department for Paramount Pictures. She co-produced the film, The Quest For The Yeti directed by Victoria Arch.
She teaches Introduction to Feature Film Development, at UCLA Extension on campus and online. Ms. Skerbelis is in her sixth year as the artistic & programming director for the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival. She is a producer with Edwards Skerbelis Entertainment (ESE) (www.ESEntertainment.net), a company dedicated to nurturing filmmakers and screenwriting talent.
RONA EDWARDS
A graduate of California Institute of the Arts, RONA EDWARDS was Vice President of Creative Affairs for Emmy-winner John Larroquette, Academy Award-winner Michael Phillips, and Emmy-winning Producer Fern Field before she was dragged kicking and screaming into the world of independent producing. She Co-Produced and/or Executive Produced One Special Victory (NBC) starring Larroquette, The Companion (USA/SCI FI CHANNEL) directed by Gary Fleder, I Know What You Did (ABC) starring Rosana Arquette, Out Of Sync (VH1), and Der Morder Meiner Mutter (Sat.1). She's had projects made and/or in development with CBS, ABC, NBC, Hearst, VH1, HBO, Phoenix, Edward R. Pressman, Motor City Films, Warner Bros., David Wolper Organization and All Girl Productions.
For seven years, she has taught Introduction to Feature Film Development at UCLA Extension with Monika Skerbelis. Together, they wrote the new book, "I Liked It, Didn't Love It" (Screenplay Development From The Inside Out!) for Lone Eagle Publishing.
